Necessary steps for continued growth

Work on the Varberg Tunnel, managed by Implenia for Trafikverket, is entering its final phase near Gothenburg. A key step in preparing for the commencement of train operations is the removal of construction dust and dirt from the tunnel. Railcare has been contracted to ensure a smooth, efficient, and sustainable cleaning process with its battery-powered vacuum machine.

Railcare has won an order from the Norwegian Baneservice for a Railvac maintenance machine, with a total value of SEK 30 million. Delivery is expected to take place at the start of 2026.

New contracts strengthen foundation for continued growth.

Railcare AB has been awarded a contract with the Swedish Transport Administration relating to snow clearance. The contract spans a period of four years with an option to extend for 1+1 years. The contract is worth just over SEK 59 million annually, generating a total value of SEK 355 million over the entire contract period, including options.

Railcare’s Locomotive Workshop, which carries out maintenance and rebuilding of rail vehicles, has reached an important milestone by being certified according to ISO 9001, which confirms that the company’s quality management system meets internationally recognised standards.

Railcare is appointing two new positions to support the company’s operations on its growth journey. Firstly, with a newly appointed HR Manager position, and secondly, a new Head of IR, Communication and Sustainability. The Group Management team will also change from the beginning of 2025.

In consultation with the largest shareholders, the Chairman of the Board of Railcare Group AB has established a Nomination Committee for the 2025 Annual General Meeting. The Nomination Committee consists of Anders Westermark, Chairman of the Board and Jonas Holmqvist, appointed by Nornan Invest AB. The Nomination Committee has appointed Jonas Holmqvist as its chairman. The Nomination Committee’s members together represent 29,9 per cent (30 September 2024) of the total number of shares and votes in the company.

Railcare’s locomotive workshop in Långsele has started a collaboration with Grenland Rail to upgrade eight of the classic 1144 locomotives, formerly in service with the Austrian ÖBB, for use in freight traffic in both Sweden and Norway.

With increasing extreme weather, drainage is becoming critical to the stability of the railway. In recent years, Railcare has seen an increased demand for drainage and assessments for culverts and trenches, for example.

Railcare has entered into an agreement to acquire Y-ettan AB, the company that owns the property where Railcare currently operates its locomotive workshop in Långsele. The acquisition is part of Railcare’s long-term strategy to develop the locomotive workshop in Långsele to meet the high demand in the market.
